These days, our tamariki (children) have been displaying a keen interest in outdoor environments, especially nature, such as flowers and insects.
The tamariki have been enjoying the fragrant scents of flowers and mint, and they've discovered an abundance of insects visiting our garden.
Today, as the tamariki found some water in the trough. Some of them were eager to engage in water play, while others wanted to nourish the parched plants that were wilting due to the dry soil.
We held a vote, and the decision was unanimous: we would water the plants.
It was so lovely to witness the tamariki actively participating in the process of nurturing plants, as it is an integral aspect of Kaitiakitanga, teaching them how to respect the treasures that the natural environment provides us.
Ka pai, everyone!
